Ilyari is a Peruvian-Dutch singer-songwriter based in Ecuador. Her "world music" project blends traditional Peruvian and Ecuadorian genres with elements of hip hop and electronic music. Through rhythms such as huayno, pasillo, vals, festejo, and Amazonian cumbia, her work updates and conveys the essence of these cultures to modern audiences. Her music, woven from memory, serves as a bridge between the past and the present.  

She learned to sing empirically by listening to the classic voices of huayno, Peruvian vals, American jazz, Latin American protest music, and urban music. She studied percussion and guitar with important figures of Peruvian and Ecuadorian popular music, such as Emilio Lara, Coco Linares, and Lalo Izquierdo.  

She comes from a family of artists and activists, which infuses her art with a deep social and cultural commitment. Through her lyrics, which celebrate identity, memory, and social struggles, she revalues mestizo identities, promotes gender equity, and raises awareness about environmental care. Her experimental approach arises from the need to explore and reimagine the roots that constitute our mestizo identity, inviting her audience to embrace their role as authors of their time and active participants in history.  

She has received several awards as a composer, including the Latin American Popular and Unpublished Song Festival Award in Brussels (2011), the 'Canción Libertaria' Award from the Prefecture of Pichincha, Ecuador (2022), and she was the winner of the "EP Production and Release" Public Contest from the IFCI, Ecuador (2024). She has performed at major festivals and theaters in Ecuador and was recently invited to Europe to represent Ecuador at EXIB MÚSICA, Expo Iberoamericana de Música 2023. She has just released her new album titled "¿Por Qué No?". 

With three albums in her career, Ilyari has established herself as one of the leading voices in contemporary music in Ecuador.

Ilyari es una cantautora peruano-holandesa radicada en Ecuador. Su proyecto de "música de raíz" fusiona géneros tradicionales peruanos y ecuatorianos con elementos de hip hop y música electrónica. A través de ritmos como el huayno, pasillo, vals, festejo y la cumbia amazónica, su propuesta actualiza y transmite al público moderno la esencia de estas culturas. Su música, tejida desde la memoria, es un puente entre el pasado y el presente.

Aprendió a cantar de manera empírica escuchando a las voces clásicas del huayno, el vals peruano, el jazz americano, la trova latinoamericana y la música urbana. Estudió percusión y guitarra con importantes exponentes de la música popular peruana y ecuatoriana como Emilio Lara, Coco Linares y Lalo Izquierdo.

Proviene de una familia de artistas y activistas, lo que impregna su arte con un profundo compromiso social y cultural. A través de sus letras, que celebran la identidad, la memoria y las luchas sociales, revaloriza las identidades mestizas, promueve la equidad de género y sensibiliza sobre el cuidado del medio ambiente. Su enfoque experimental surge de la necesidad de explorar y reimaginar las raíces que constituyen nuestra identidad mestiza, invitando a su audiencia a asumir su rol como autores de su tiempo y actores activos en la historia.

Ha recibido varios premios como compositora, incluyendo el Premio Festival de la Canción Popular e Inédita Latinoamericana en Bruselas (2011), el Premio 'Canción Libertaria' de la Prefectura de Pichincha, Ecuador (2022) y fue ganadora del Concurso Público "Producción y lanzamiento de EP ” del IFCI, Ecuador (2024).  Ha actuado en festivales y teatros importantes de Ecuador y recientemente fue invitada a Europa para representar a Ecuador en el EXIB MÚSICA, Expo Iberoamericana de Música 2023.
